Too Hot

Took the Corse out for a ride today but only went about 20 miles as the temperature was about 98 degrees and very humid. Sucks but it is what it is. I think the Corse will be parked for a few weeks until this heat breaks. Looking forward to getting back to the mountains and great roads soon.

GS Heaven

Well I got the new R1200 GS last week and had a great 7 days riding in the North Carolina mountains. 1600 miles so far. I will be putting together a new website devoted to the GS very soon that will be in the same manner and look as my Corse site. Here are a few photos of the bike.

Corse #23!

Jason Crystal just sent some photos of his new Corse #23. The photos are on the “Friends Bikes” page. The mods he has done to the bike are very nice. I really like the rear sets and the clutch!

New GS!

Just placed a deposit for a 2011 1200 GS beemer today. I will pick it up on July 12th from TouringSport BMW in Greenville, SC. Nice folks to deal with. Ask for Joey when you visit. The other dealers I contacted either did not have what I wanted in stock, tried to sell me what they had, and pressured me into buying. Doesn’t work with me. Anyway, I am getting a Magna Red GS with the premium package that includes: Wire Wheels upgrade, Heated Grips, ABS, Saddle Bag Mounts, On Board Computer, Enduro ESA, and Hand Protection. I will probably add a few more things when I pick the thing up. I will be putting together a site just for the GS as soon as I start to live with it.

Haven’t been riding the Corse for the past few weeks as the weather here in Florida has been in the middle to upper 90′s and rain. I feel sorry for the Corse in hot weather as it runs hot to begin with and I don’t want to burn her up. Gonna save it for cooler weather when she can give me some luvin……

Really Cool Reading

I recently finished reading two really cool books. One called “Riding Man” is the story of a guy who sells everything he owns, moves to the Isle of Man to race the TT. The other  is called “Ring of Fire” and is a story of MotoGP, the Isle of Man, and the riders who race. It is neat because it takes you behind the scenes of what happens on and off the tracks. I have the reviews, details, and  more info on the “Ducati Books” page on the site.

BTW, I will be getting a new BMW 1200 GS to do some touring on so stand by for a new site devoted to that bike and my travels.

Gonna Buy A New Trailer

Well I have decided to buy a new trailer with living quarters built in ala Toy Hauler so the one I just bought is for sale. I have over $4600 invested in it and am now asking $3500. I only used it one time and it is immaculate. You can see what I have done to it on the “Trailer Build” page. Message me if you are interested, thanks. BTW, I am in Florida and can deliver a short distance if that will help.

Isle Of Man TT

The TT races start in a few days. Here is a link to listen to the races live from Radio TT on the Isle Of Man. This is the centennial year for the race and it should be awesome. You can also listen to another of the local stations here at ThreeFM.

Here is a post that answers a lot of questions about Pirelli tire pressures. Very informative. http://www.diabloracer.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=21

1098/1198 Service Manual

After reading the copyright clauses regarding the service manual, I pulled it from the Dropbox site. Sorry, but I don’t want any hassles with any legal stuff. The forums at Ducati.org have several post where  you can get one for free or a few dollars for the download. Just do a search for the post and you should be good to go. Too bad Ducati doesn’t include a full service manual when we pay premium prices for their bikes. It’s not likely we would take any servicing money away from the dealers by having the thing. I just want to really know what makes my bike tick by reading the manual.

Enchiladas and Friends

Took the Corse out yesterday morning and met a buddy at the Cracker Barrel in Sanford for breakfast. Since I have been running the ethanol free fuel in the thing it sure does seem to run better. On the road at 70 mph in fifth gear it really hums along smoothly. The idle is also much nicer.
After eating, we went over to the local honda/suzuki/yamaha/kawasaki dealer to look around for a bit. Some of the new bikes are neat but most seem to be catering to the skateboard crowd with all the crappy paint jobs. Why can’t they put out a bike that is clean and not cluttered with hip hop crap. I’m just getting old I guess.
Later I met some of the guys and girls that are members of the Daytonasportbikes.com forum at a local Mexican food joint for supper. Great conversations and I met more great sportbike riders from the area. We all are planning another track day. Probably will be at Jennings GP in North Florida. Can’t wait to get the Corse back in it’s element. I have never ridden at Jennings so it should be fun learning a new track.
When I got back I pulled the fairings off the bike to clean and check things over as it had been a while since I did a deep cleaning. Not a single leak or loose bolt or nut. Got the engine detailed and buttoned back up. I have been using a Geeza Cover for years first starting when I bought one to cover my RC30. Very soft and fits like a glove. The new one I have for the Corse is still the same. Highly recommended to keep the dust and dirt off your bike when it sits for a while.
My new 7×16 foot enclosed trailer is great except for the gas mileage when I pull it with my truck. My Ford F-150 crew cab gets about 10 miles per gallon pulling the thing. Ok when you are splitting the gas cost with other folks but alone it is a bit expensive. I am thinking about getting a small trailer custom made just to carry the Corse in when I go anywhere by myself. I had a 5×8 foot one before and could get around 15 to 17 mpg so it would pay for itself in a few trips. Sucks when the price of gas causes us to change the way we do things these days.
