About Me

I have been riding since 1969 having started with a 250 Suzuki Savage dual sport bike when I was in high school. Here is a list of bikes I have owned or still have:

  • 1966 Harley Sportster
  • 1972 Triumph 650 Bonneville
  • 1976 BMW R90S
  • 1982 BMW R100RS
  • 1983 BMW R80RT
  • 1889 Yamaha FZR-400
  • Ducati Paso Limited (year ?????)
  • 1990 BMW R90PD
  • 1996 Honda 900 SuperHawk
  • 1998 Honda Blackbird
  • 1990 Honda RC30
  • 1998 Honda XR-400
  • 2000 Honda XR-650L
  • 2000 GSXR 750
  • 2002 Suzuki GSXR 1000
  • 2004 Harley Night Train
  • 2006 Harley Road King
  • 2009 Harley Electra Glide
  • 2010 Ducati 848
  • 2010 Ducati 1198S Corse

During the latter part of the 90′s I raced my little FZR-400 with CCS in the South East Region doing well in 1990 capturing the South East Championship in the Lightweight Supersport class. I also have toured the southern United States on BMW’s and Harley’s making many friends along the way. I fell in love with the roads and people of Western North Carolina in the early 80′s, bought property, and in the last ten years built a home there. It is right in the middle of some of the finest sportbike roads in the country. I still have a home in Florida and split my time between the two areas.

My RC-30.

I love sportbikes and Ducati’s in particular. I rode my Ducati 848 over to Mellimoto in Ocala the other day,  got to talking with Sebastian about the different Ducati models, and fell in love with the new 1198S Corse. I have a  Harley that was just sitting in the garage and I only rode it a few times a year. Sebastian said he would take the Harley and the 848 in trade for a new Corse. We came to a deal and the bike was ordered from Italy. Sebastian said the bike will be coming “in the crate” and is being assembled in the Ducati factory in Bologna at this time. Should be here about 2 to 3 weeks hopefully. I will be taking a day off from work when the time comes so I can document the un-crating and set up for the blog. I can’t wait to get it to the mountains for some great riding. I am at the mountain home at this time and the weather is great. Hope it is as good next month when I return with the new bike.

My 848.

I checked the registry at several of the Ducati forums to see how many 1198s Corse’s are listed and could only find 87 other owners in the world. I am sure there are more that are not listed but with the price of the bike  there should not be that many more. Not saying I am wealthy but it is more than most people would pay for a sportbike.

    Tim-
As of this moment I am selling everything I own (guns, recreational equipment, Aprilia SR-50 Scooter, and even my prized 1996 Ducati 900Sp that has been TOTALLY redone with 944 kit and every extra known to man!)
My goal is to buy the Corse within the month and just by chance stumbled across your website today! By far the best site dedicated to a specific bike I have ever seen, awesome job buddy!
Like you I am over 40 and fell in love with these Italian pieces of art long ago.
Keep up the great work and I look fwd to picking your brain on things soon. Oh, and its now October 7th- have a blast on the 25th when you wind it out on the track!!
I raced CCS at VIR and Summit Point for years while living in Virginia. Still doing the SV thing now, you are a very brave man to pull this bike out onto the track!! Post the pics Tim.
    Semper Fidelis!

      Hi Brendan,

Corse #007 is listed on eBay right now. It is located in southern Tennessee.
Comes with Ducati canopy, Ducati chairs, Rear stand, Ducati tire warmers, and even a Ducati watch. Not a bad price for all the goodies. I think she has only 1000 miles on the clock. Looks very clean.

    Hey Bredan,

Thanks for the kind words about my site. It is a work in progress and I’m having a blast with it. I was away from Ducati’s for many years and this past year just got the passion back. I bought an 848 in January but traded it back in for the Corse. I haven’t regretted the choice at all. The Corse is everything I have ever wanted in a sport bike. Looks, sound, performance, exclusivity, and the thing always draws a crowd where ever I take it. Now that the 1198sp is out I thing the Corse will be more of a collectors item as I think most folks will be buying the SP because of the perceived value and such. Not a problem as far as I can see. Only means less Corse’s will be sold probably so the numbers will be less. Good thing. The track day coming up will be a blast. I have thousands of laps at Roebling and really don’t ride that fast anymore. Just for fun. But the track is the only place where I can enjoy a bit of what the Corse can deliver and be safe at the same time. Congrats in getting the new bike and please send me some photos that I can put on the site. Also let me know what number yours is so I can add it to the Owners section. I have a few more things to add to the bike but those will wait until Christmas. That will me my excuse to finish the thing. Cheers.

Love the look of the website with the valves on it man!
Dont know if you follow the Superbike site and forums much but I am getting these new mirrors and a few people really love them out there. Check out what I wrote, my screen name is Gunny Fitz. I am still too scared to put this thing on the track here in Virginia!
Hey I dont know if you are planning on going to the AMA races down at VIR in August but I got a room at the Lodge with the viewing balcony and will be there all 3 days for it. If so we need to meet up man! Let me know ok? Until then stay safe and keep up the great work brother!

      Hey,

I will check out the mirrors asap. I can’t make it to VIR but will try to get with you sometime in the future. It has been too hot to do any more track days with the bike but will be getting it out in the fall for a few. Keep in touch.
